Socialist Party leader Oleksandr Moroz rules out the possibility of joining the Socialist Party of Ukraine to Communist Party or Party of Regions.

Moroz announced this at 5 Channel TV company on July 23.

"There is no need, and could be no intentions in this respect," the leader said answering the question concerning joining the Socialist Party to Communist Party or Party of Regions.

At that, he noted that the format of participation of the Socialist Party in the future Verkhovna Rada elections would depend upon the law, according to which the elections would be held.

He reminded that Socialist Party several times initiated creation of the joint bloc with the Communist Party for participation in the parliamentary elections, but the Communist Party did not back this initiative.

The Socialist Party plans to independently participate in the local elections which were scheduled for October 31, Moroz added.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on July 24, the Socialist Party of Ukraine will hold a congress during which it will consider shifting of the party’s leader.

Moroz forecasts Vasyl Tsushko to be elected as the new leader of the party.

Tsushko was appointed as Economy Minister in the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers headed by the Party of Regions leader Mykola Azarov on quote of the Communist Party.
