Javier Solana has said he is satisfied that the opposition headed by Yulia Tymoshenko is planning to work constructively.
Former EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana has said he is satisfied that the opposition headed by Yulia Tymoshenko is planning to work constructively.
"I'm very happy to hear from you that you have a positive and constructive mood and are ready to work," he said at a meeting with Tymoshenko in Kyiv on Thursday.
Solana noted that Tymoshenko was a patriot, regardless of which post she holds.
"You know what a sincerely friendly attitude I have to Ukraine. In Europe, you have not only many friends of Ukraine, but also a lot of your own friends. I see how wisely you treat the circumstances that you currently have, and you remain, of course, a patriot regardless of the position in which you have found yourself," he said.
Tymoshenko, in turn, expressed hope that the values that the democratic forces have tried to establish in Ukraine in recent years would be strengthened.
She said she hoped that democracy and justice would also be strengthened.
"I devoutly believe that our opposition will protect Ukraine from any attacks on its independence," Tymoshenko said.
***In Europe, you have not only many friends of Ukraine, but also a lot of your own friends****
Wonder wherever they all were hiding when she was fighting alone phenomenal fraud at the Elections to convicted criminal and his gang?!!
They were loosing Ukraine, and nobody gave her time of the day then. If only one of those friends made a peep back then....
you must be blind she is the biggest bandit of them all
Reading between the lines, what Solana's words really meant were "I as well as the rest of civilized Europe will be very happy if we never have to hear another word from Yulia Tymoshenko again".
She is Putin little sister, a little hooligan like Putin.
She may be all of the disparaging things you say she is - but - unfortunately she is the only remaining hope for a truly democratic Ukraine. A government such as that headed by Yanukovitch can only be held in check by a strong opposition. Without this opposition the power of the State will once again become all-consuming. And for examples of what results when this happens you need to look at recent history and at affairs not a million miles away across the border!
Solana and Julia..
Solana was in charge of orchestrating the orange revolution,,,
Later he was kicked out of euro, as nato dumped him also,,,
Now he s here, telling Julia,
We did it, and it lasted only 5 years,,, we should be happy for the west for allowing us to ruin Ukraine for 5 years,, but now, we should step back, says Sorry solana,,,
It makes sense...
Solana and Julia,,, two irrelevant yesterday's screw ups...
