You're reading: Son of UPA commander-in-chief Shukhevych to stand for parliament

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered the party ticket of the Ukrainian National Assembly (UNA).

Such a decision was taken at a commission meeting on Saturday.

Yuriy-Bohdan Shukhevych, the son of the commander-in-chief of the
Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), Roman Shukhevych, is No.1 on the list.

The election list of the UNA included 169 candidates. Only 115 of
them were registered, while 49 were denied registration, because their
documents did not meet the requirements of the law, and the commission
excluded five candidates from the list, because they have not submitted
statements on their consent to run for MP.

The CEC also registered 11 self-nominees.

The registration of candidates for MP ended on August 18.
