Four experts from U.S. law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP had a meeting with former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on June 28, which was also attended by her defense lawyer, Serhiy Vlasenko, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine has reported.

The meeting was held in Tymoshenko’s ward at Ukrzaliznytsia’s Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv and lasted four hours.

“The leadership of the hospital or the Kachanivska penal colony received no comments or statements from U.S. experts and Vlasenko after the meeting,” the service said.

It also said that upon arrival of the U.S. experts in the hospital, Vlasenko “demanded, in the form of an ultimatum, a video recording of the meeting, which is prohibited by Ukrainian law.”

However, the permission to conduct a video recording of the meeting was not granted.

As reported, the Ukrainian Justice Ministry has attracted the U.S. Skadden law firm in investigating the Tymoshenko vs. Ukraine case in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). A contract for the provision of legal services was signed between the ministry and the firm on May 25, 2012.
