A decision to merge with the Party of Regions will be taken at the second stage of the Strong Ukraine party's second congress.

This decision was made by delegates of the first stage of the congress in Kyiv on Saturday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

At the congress, Strong Ukraine Leader Sergiy Tigipko has invited his party members to hold consultations regarding the mechanism of association with the Party of Regions during a break between the stages of the congress.

He noted that they needed to agree on the ‘organizational entry’ of the Strong Ukraine into the Party of Regions. In particular, he expressed his desire to see representatives of his political force as deputy heads of local branches of the Party of Regions.

He said he wanted his party members to be involved in the implementation of reforms, when they become a part of the Party of Regions.

"I am confident that when we are there (in the Party of Regions) we will contribute to the spirit and to democracy, and I believe that the Party of Regions will only benefit from this," he stressed.

The congress instructed Tigipko to determine the time and date of the second part of the second Congress of the Strong Ukraine party.
