You're reading: Suprun: Just another female in the race

Lawyer Suprun also in race, but barely anyone is paying attention.

Suprun heads the National Democratic Party with capitalist ambitions. Of three female candidates in the presidential race, she seems less prone to bread-and-circuses type of campaigning. A lawyer by education, she made a career in Ukraine’s agricultural business before joining parliament a decade ago. The “Businesswoman of Ukraine” in 1997, Suprun wants to keep income tax revenue in the regions where it originates rather than sending it all to Kyiv. A former political ally of Rada speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, she may be lucky to gain 1 percent of the votes.
