Ukrainian Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko has said that the country's oligarchs will be afraid of tabling in parliament a bill on the agricultural land market before parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

“The initiators of this issue will not raise it before the elections.
It’s unlikely that they will dare to annoy private farmers, who
currently make up a layer of farming. That’s why the moratorium on
farmland sales was extended until January 1, 2013,” the party’s press
service quoted Symonenko as saying on July 5.

At the same time, he said he was sure that big business, regardless
of party colors, would not abandon the idea of introducing the provision
on land sales.

“The political forces that represent big business – regardless of the
color of their flags – will unite on issues that are fundamental for
them, including the sale of land and the squandering of property,”
Symonenko said.
