Regions Party Deputy Chairman, Vice Prime Minister Sergiy Tigipko would like to lead the Party of Regions, but understands that this will not happen before the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He answered "yes", asked by reportersin Kyiv on Saturday,March 17,whether he wants to become the leader of the Party of Regions .
But he said this is unlikely to happen before the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He said that it is too early to talk about his perspectives in the party, as he has recently become its member.

"At the same time, it would be very presumptuous, maybe even bordered with certain arrogance. After all, the people had been working in the party for 15 years," said the politician.

According to Tigipko, every party member should have the chance to become its leader.

The members of the disbanded Strong Ukraine party have joined the Regions Party.A political agreement to merge the parties was signed at the 13th congress of the Regions Party in Kyiv on Saturday,March, 17. The document was signed by Party of Regions Chairman Mykola Azarov and Sergiy Tigipko, who previously headed the Strong Ukraine party.



The presidium of the Regions Party political council, the council of regions, the local party organizations were instructed to take necessary measures to solve organizational issues related to ensuring the process of merger.
