he date of the international donor conference on Ukraine will depend on the results of the Ukrainian government's work, European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn has said.
“As for a specific date, we need to see a specific roadmap for reforms, as well as the results of its implementation,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
According to the European commissioner, as soon as the European Union receives assurances from Ukraine and see the results of the government’s work, it will be ready to organize the conference.
“It doesn’t matter when this conference will be held in January or February… In this case the speed [of the organization] of the conference depends on the Ukrainian government,” Hahn said.
“This is a part of ‘stick and carrot’ approach, if you like,” he added.
At the same time, Hahn said that the conference would be best described not as donor but as a conference on reforms and investments.
