The Batkivschyna Party and the People's Self-Defense Party will form a single list of candidates for membership in the Ukrainian parliament at the 2012 elections.

"Under the current legislation we cannot form a bloc. This can only be a party list. We will search for mechanisms form a united list," the parliament’s vice speaker, Mykola Tomenko, told this to journalists on Wednesday.

"We are moving along two parallel paths. The Svododa Party and the Front for Change Party are ready to agree on single mandate constituencies, but are not ready to form a united party list. So we go from simple to complex. We are negotiating with these political forces, and we are working on the minimum program – forming united lists in single mandate constituencies. And we will unite with the political forces that are willing to form a single party list," he added.
