Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, Mykola Tomenko will insist on his resignation from the position as soon as the Verkhovna Rada resumes its work in autumn.

“It is obvious that it would be unfair and incorrect to refuse from
resignation. So, I hope that the parliamentary majority will vote for my
voluntary resignation, and I will actively work as a people’s deputy of
Ukraine in this convocation,” Tomenko said during an online conference
hosted by LigaBusinessInform on Monday.

As reported, on July 4 Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn and
his deputy Mykola Tomenko tendered their resignations following the
passing of the law on the principles of the state language policy by the
parliament.

Someone voted for the document by Tomenko’s voting card, although he was absent from the sitting hall during the vote.

On July 6 and on July 30, the parliament refused to consider Lytvyn’s and Tomenko’s resignations.
