You're reading: Tymoshenko accuses Ukrainian authorities of terrorizing opposition

Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of the Batkivschyna Party and former prime minister of Ukraine, has accused the Ukrainian authorities of "terrorizing" the opposition.

"These people are now being terrorized. They think that if they get rid of all of us they will get free access to finally humiliate and rob Ukraine," Tymoshenko said before being questioned in the Main Investigations Department of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office on Monday.

Tymoshenko also said that such "hysteria" confirms that the authorities are afraid of the opposition, saying "strong politicians" have never practiced repression.

"I want to tell you all: be strong, do not fear the mafia, the Mafia is a mere several dozen people, and there are 46 million of us," Tymoshenko said.
