The BYT-Batkivschyna faction is planning to challenge in the Constitutional Court a law on pension reform that was adopted by parliament early on Friday, former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said.

"Our political party and our faction will appeal to the Constitutional Court so that it cancels the law on pension reform that was illegally passed," she told reporters on Friday before entering the building of the Pechersky District Court, which is to continuing to consider a gas supply case against her.

Tymoshenko said she was confident that pension reform had been approved in violation of the constitution, because only 40 deputies were present in the parliament’s session hall, but over 226 lawmakers voted for the document.

In addition, she said that the law worsened people’s lives and that this, under the constitution, should not be done.
