Former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko has complained to the European Court of Human Rights.

"I want to tell you that we have filed a complaint with the ECHR, that we will be defending ourselves and seek the truth other than in Ukrainian courts," Tymoshenko said after a court hearing on Wednesday.

The trial at the Pechersky district court on the gas case is a reprisal by President Viktor Yanukovych against the opposition leader, Tymoshenko said.

"And this court has already been dubbed "Kireyevschyna" [after judge Rodion Kireyev who is hearing the case], that is to say they have even found a term because everyone understands that he is not a judge and this is not justice," she said.
