Former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has refused to provide any information regarding the phone threats made against her, the press center of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) reported on Tuesday.

"The State Guard Department (SGD) said that Tymoshenko had refused to provide any information regarding this situation. This greatly complicates the implementation of investigative actions envisaged by the law," the press center reported.

The SBU again called on Tymoshenko to provide the necessary information to establish the facts of the threats and, if confirmed, to search for the threat-maker and bring him to justice.

At the request of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, the SBU and the SGD are checking Tymoshenko’s claims about threats made against her.

As reported, Tymoshenko claimed on September 16 that an unknown person had phoned her and said she would regret her trip to Brussels and the resolution adopted by the assembly of the European People’s Party."

President Yanukovych ordered the State Guard Department and other law enforcement agencies to immediately check reports from the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko’s press service on threatening phone calls made to Tymoshenko.

"The president ordered Tymoshenko’s security to be strengthened during the investigation," the president’s press service reported on Friday.
