Former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, who is imprisoned in the Kachanivska penal colony (Kharkiv), has refused to undergo independent tests at any of Kharkiv's laboratories, according to the deputy head of the Health Ministry's commission, Halyna Siroshtan.

"She refused to undergo an independent examination in the presence of her representatives at any of Kharkiv’s laboratories, including a biochemical blood analysis," Siroshtan told reporters in Kharkiv on Wednesday.

She added that on Jan. 17 the ministry’s commission decided to use in the examination of Tymoshenko absolutely independent medical experts, who have never met the ex-premier and never seen her medical card, including Head of the Neurology and Psychiatry Institute Petro Voloshyn and Head of the Mala Therapy Institute Oleh Babak.

After media reports about the possible poisoning of Tymoshenko with thallium salts, it was decided to also involve toxicology experts, including Director of Kharkiv regional Forensic Medicine Expertise Bureau Yuriy Kravchenko and Head of the acute poisonings unit of Kharkiv Clinic No. 2 Ihor Karamushko. But Tymoshenko refused to undergo the examination.

When asked about the former premier’s health condition, Siroshtan said: "There has been no change."

She added that Tymoshenko was in bed when doctors visited her in the morning.
