Former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko says she has not abandoned the idea of becoming the president of Ukraine.

"I would like to leave behind something that cannot be counted in money, positions, or powers. This has to be my contribution to development of my country. As for the presidency, it depends on the state’s decision," the opposition politician said in an interview with the Korrespondent Magazine.

She added: "A person should not make positions, money or something else the aim of his or her life. Because there are important moments when you think: what do I leave behind? Is my family happy and reliable? My family is reliable and beloved, but it never was happy, because we never see each other."

Tymoshenko said she felt sorry her family was deprived of attention due to her political activity.

"We never were together for real, because my life was always connected with political and public activity," she said.

At the presidential election in 2010 Tymoshenko was the main rival of the current Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. Today she is a leading opposition figure.

The next presidential election is to take place in 2015.
