KHARKIV - Supporters of Yulia Tymoshenko are staging a rally outside the Kachanivska prison in Kharkiv, where the ex-prime minister is held.
Up to 50 people are taking part in the rally, holding placards, "Yulia, I am with you," "Hands off Yulia Tymoshenko" and "Stop political repressions," an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent said.
The demonstrators are chanting, "Freedom for Yulia!" and "Down with the gang!"
Several dozen law enforcers and traffic police officers are lined up along the prison fence perimeter.
Car parking on the prison grounds is restricted.
The rally is timed to coincide with the expected arrival to the prison of representatives from non-governmental organization Freedom House.
