You're reading: Tymoshenko trial set for June 29

The judge in the pre-trial hearing of a case against former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko on Saturday, June 25, ruled that she would stand trial next Wednesday, June 29 on a charge of abuse of power.

Judge Rodion Kyriyev threw out earlier objections made by Tymoshenko and her defence who had argued that the charge against her was politically motivated by President Viktor Yanukovich.

He also rejected Tymoshenko’s request to allow her to go to Lviv, Volyn and Luhansk regions, as well as to visit Vilnius, Lithuania.
