Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes that public statements made by Viktor Yanukovych confirm his influence over the trial regarding gas contracts from 2009.

"After Viktor Yanukovych’s press conference it became absolutely clear who’s directing all these illegal and amoral things happening today in the Pechersk court," Yulia Tymoshenko said before the start of today’s proceedings, reads Tymoshenko’s website.

According to her, comments made by the president show that he is following the trial on a daily basis.

"From what he said it became clear that he is constantly monitoring how the judge behaves and influencing the court through his environment, because his comment that the judge looks better is cynical. And this makes the president happy, as he said at his press conference," she added.

"It also became absolutely clear why my lawyer isn’t being given time to review the case file, why they’re violating my right to defense and in essence leaving me without a full defense. Because Yanukovych gave orders to speed through the trial contrary to the law, fairness, common sense. And he also said this at the press conference. He said that he wants this to go faster," said Yulia Tymoshenko.

The ex-premier is convinced that public statements by Viktor Yanukovych are direct evidence of the fact that the court is controlled.

"This isn’t justice, and I once against stress that there is no crime in any of the criminal cases opened," she said.
