Tymoshenko's colleagues to visit her in hospital to discuss united opposition's strategy

The political colleagues of former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko are planning to visit her at the hospital, according to Radio Liberty.

Deputy Chairman of the Batkivschyna Party Hryhoriy Nemyria told the radio station that he, together with Head of the Central Election Headquarters of the Batkivschyna United Opposition Oleksandr Turchynov and Head of the Council of the Batkivschyna United Opposition Arseniy Yatseniuk, will visit Tymoshenko to discuss the situation in the country and the strategy of the united opposition before the elections.

According to Nemyria, they received permission for the meeting only after Tymoshenko's protest on September 28, when she lay down on the concrete floor near the door of her ward.

"Yulia Tymoshenko lay on the floor in the corridor of the hospital for two days, and by her firmness and persistence she made them compromise. If we manage to see Yulia Volodymyrivna, we will talk about our actions in a situation that is worsening day after day, and infringements on freedom of speech and other civil rights. This may be our last opportunity to hold such a meeting before the elections," the politician said.

According to Nemyria, Tymoshenko protested from 1600 on September 28 until 1300 on September 30.

As reported, on September 28 the administration of the Kachanivska Penal Colony did not allow Tymoshenko to meet with Yatseniuk, Turchynov, and Nemyria. In protest the ex-premier lay down on the concrete floor.

The State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine stated that the people's deputies had organized provocations at the hospital and wanted to hold a meeting in Tymoshenko's ward.

On September 30, the press service of the State Penitentiary Service said that the administration of the prison would make an exception and permit Tymoshenko to hold a meeting with her party mates, but for not more than an hour-and-a-half.
