Defense lawyer Mykola Tytarenko has filed a petition over the illegal use of force in the courtroom where the trial of Yulia Tymoshenko is being held.

"According to the Constitution and law on the status of people’s deputy and deputy immunity, brutal force was used against them and as a result most of them were forced to leave the courtroom and seek medical attention. This is a direct violation of the Constitution by officials responsible for providing security in the courtroom and it was recorded by courtroom cameras," Mykola Tytarenko said, according to the Tymosheko website.

Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawyer has asked the court to release these materials for investigation.

"Security officers grossly violated norms of direct action, people’s deputies of Ukraine suffered injuries.

Given the fact that the presiding judge should exercise his right and duty to record violations in the courtroom, I ask that these materials of the gross violation of deputies rights be sent for examination," he said.

In turn, the prosecution said the Prosecutor General’s Office must examine the actions of people’s deputies in the courtroom.

"Materials will be sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office to verify the parties’ claims and clarify the circumstances expressed by the court," the judge said.

Tymoshenko has said that she will continue to demand the withdrawal of Rodion Kireyev, a judge of the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv.

"We believe that Mr. Kireyev cannot serve as a judge at all, not just in this trial, but, in principle, in any trial," Tymoshenko told journalists on Thursday before entering the courthouse.

Tymoshenko also has said that the consideration of a gas supply case against her is becoming more closed.

"Unfair trial is now obvious. Today journalists are practically not allowed to the courtroom… They have to go through the police cordon. This suggests that the situation in court is becoming more closed," she told reporters before entering the courthouse.

She also expressed hope that the discussion of the gas supply case would continue to be broadcast on TV.
