Husband of former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, Oleksandr, will returned to Ukraine only after the change of the regime.

"I will be able to return to Ukraine only after the change of power. Honestly, I would return to Ukraine now, but the first thing after arrival I will be certainly arrested," he was quoted as saying by the official Web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

Oleksandr Tymoshenko also said that he is currently unable to visit Ukraine. "My stay in the Czech Republic makes it possible to some extend to defend politically the interests of my spouse and other political prisoners in Ukraine," he stressed.

According to him, a decision for his applying for political asylum in the Czech Republic was made at the family council. "This decision was made so that we should not give the authorities additional opportunities to exert pressure on Yulia Volodymyrivna [Tymoshenko]… I have never thought I will be a refugee – political or non-political, I never could have imagined it," he said.
