Ukraine and NATO are ready to bring their partnership to a quality new level, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

“Ukraine and NATO are ready to bring their special partnership to a new level already today, including with the aim of maximizing interoperability between Ukraine’s and the alliance’s armed forces,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said at a news conference on Sept. 9.

In analyzing outcomes of the Sept. 4-5 NATO summit in Wales, Perebyinis said there is absolute mutual understanding between the alliance leaders that any decisions on Ukraine’s NATO membership should be made after Ukraine carries out the necessary internal reforms and complies with membership criteria.

“Ukraine also welcomes NATO’s positive position on providing military-technological support to our state by alliance member-states on a bilateral level, as was indicated in a joint statement following a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission,” he said.
