You're reading: Ukraine appoints new finance, economic ministers

Ukraine's parliament on Mar. 11 appointed Fedir Yaroshenko as Finance Minister and Vasyl Tsushko as Economics Minister in a new government headed by Mykola Azarov.

Azarov, a former finance minister and close ally of President Viktor Yanukovych, was earlier voted into the top government job after being nominated by a newly-formed coalition.

Yaroshenko is an old associate of Azarov having worked with him when the latter was head of the state tax administration and later finance minister.

Tsushko, a Socialist Party deputy, was interior minister from 2006-7.
