You're reading: Ukraine court again delays Tymoshenko appeal hearing

A Ukrainian court on Thursday, July 12, put off until August 16 hearings in former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko's appeal against her abuse-of-office conviction and a seven-year prison sentence.

The high court in Kyiv granted a motion by state prosecutors
for the hearing to be postponed pending a medical examination of
Tymoshenko to establish whether she was fit to attend
proceedings.

Tymoshenko is being treated for back trouble in a state-run
hospital and did not attend the hearing on July 12.
