You're reading: Ukraine cuts imports of Russian gas by 1.8 times in 2014

Ukraine in 2014 cut imports of natural gas from Russia by 1.8 times or 11.3 billion cubic meters compared to 2013, to 14.5 billion cubic meters, the press service of public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz reported on Jan. 6. 

The press service said that in December 518.2 million cubic meters of gas was imported from Russia.

In the period from January 1 to January 4, 2015 Ukraine imported 162.3 million cubic meters of gas from Russia, and on January 4 along – 39.3 million cubic meters.

The share of Russian gas of total balance of gas sent to the Ukrainian gas transport system in 2014 came to 26.2% (14.5 billion cubic meters). The share of gas from Europe was 12.7% (5.1 billion cubic meters) and the share of Ukrainian-made gas – 51.1% (20.5 billion cubic meters).
