The Presidential Leonid Kuchma's Ukraine Foundation charitable organization has refused to comment on reports in the mass media that a criminal case has allegedly been opened against the former president (1994-2005) in connection with the murder of journalist Georgy Gongadze.

Foundation Press Secretary Mykhailo Maly told Interfax-Ukraine on Ьфкср 22 that the Ukraine Foundation will not comment on this due to the absence of official information from the Prosecutor General’s Office on this case.

"We do not comment on what is posted on the Internet. [We do not comment on such things] at all," Maly said.

On Monday evening, a range of Ukrainian Internet publications, referring to their own sources, reported that a criminal case has allegedly been opened against Kuchma connected with the murder of Gongadze. According to reports in the mass media, First Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin took the decision to open a criminal case against Kuchma "on suspicion of organizing the murder of Gongadze." In addition, Kuchma was banned from traveling abroad.
