Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) denied allegations by a former Ukrainian human rights commissioner that its personnel searched her office on May 5.

"No SBU officers have carried out any searches or other investigations," SBU spokeswoman Maryna Ostapenko told Interfax-Ukraine.

Earlier, ex-ombudsman Nina Karpachova told Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe that SBU personnel had searched her office on Saturday morning and that incumbent human rights commissioner Valeria Lutkovska had sanctioned the search.

Lutkovska denied she had permitted the search.
