The Ukrainian Finance Ministry and the Central Election Commission have signed a joint protocol, which envisages provision of Hr 1.024 billion of budget funds for local elections, the press service of the Finance Ministry reported on Wednesday.

According to the Central Election Commission’s estimate, the local elections will cost Ukraine Hr 1.321 billion.

Ukraine’s state budget for 2010 assigns Hr 1.040 billion for the CEC for holding the local elections.

At the same time, taking into account the need for rational use of budget funds the Ministry of Finance together with the CEC have analyzed the necessary expenditures on the local elections.

As a result, the CEC adopted a resolution on September 13 that Hr 1.024 billion intended for financing the local elections should be distributed among the regional budgets.
