You're reading: Ukrainian law depriving Yanukovych of presidential title to take effect on June 17

The parliamentary newspaper Holos Ukrainy ( Voice of Ukraine) published a law on depriving Viktor Yanukovych of the title of president of Ukraine on June 18.

The law stipulates that it will take effect the next day after its official publication.

The Verkhovna Rada said on its website that the bill had been proposed by a group of parliamentarians on Jan. 29, was supported by a majority of votes on February 4 and was forwarded to President Petro Poroshenko for signing it into law on Feb. 9.
