The leaders of political groups participating in a protest demonstration near the Ukrainian House in Kyiv intend to coordinate their next steps on Thursday, Arseniy Yatseniuk, the head of the council of the United Opposition Batkivschyna and the leader of the Front of Changes party, said at a news conference in Kyiv.

“We will hold a meeting of all opposition political forces that have joined the action Protect the Constitution and the Language in three hours, and we will decide what to do next. There are several options of further developments,” Yatseniuk said.

The protest ongoing near the Ukrainian House has reached its goals, he said.

“Our goal yesterday was attained. They admitted openly that the entire voting procedure was violated. And this is obvious from the fact that the Verkhovna Rada chairman stated yesterday in the presence of seven parliamentarians that he would not sign this bill, as it failed to comply with the rules of procedure,” he said.

Verkhovna Rada Deputy Chairman Mykola Tomenko said, “If we make sure, say, that the language bill has not been signed into law by the closure of the [spring and summer parliamentary] session, this will mean that we have attained our tactical objective.”

If there is a new threat of the language bill’s adoption, the opposition would respond appropriately, Tomenko said. “Our actions depend on the danger of the language bill’s legalization,” he said.
