Member of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense faction Roman Zvarych is concerned over the choice of the firm selected to evaluate the efficiency of the use of budget funds by the former government 2008 through 2010.

Zvarych said this at a briefing on Thursday at the Ukrainian parliament.

The MP drew attention to the fact that the audit will be paid for with public funds, and, according to some media reports, the auditor charges hundreds of thousands of dollars for its services.

The MP noted that he had thoroughly studied of the information on the Web site of Trout Cacheris, which was selected to audit the activities of Yulia Tymoshenko’s government, and found out that the firm deals only with criminal procedural law issues.

Zvarych said he had found no information that Trout Cacheris had ever been engaged in auditing activities.

As reported, the Ukrainian government hired Washington DC based Trout Cacheris PLLS to evaluate the financial and economic activity of the previous government from 2008 through the first quarter of 2010.

Trout Cacheris, PLLC, will lead a team of professional legal and consulting firms that will include Kroll, Inc. and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP.

The audit is necessary to evaluate the actual financial and economic condition of Ukraine and the legality of budgetary expenditures by the Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko Cabinet, the press service of the government said, adding that the audit would help Ukraine recover from the crisis.
