You're reading: Vlasenko: Tymoshenko ready to provide blood sample only to independent doctors

Serhiy Vlasenko, a lawyer for former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, has said that the former prime minister is ready to provide a blood sample only to independent doctors.

"Yesterday there was another lie that Tymoshenko had allegedly refused to take a blood test. This is a direct lie," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

He recalled that since August 2011, after Tymoshenko’s arrest, her defense team had regularly asked the courts to allow independent doctors to test Tymoshenko’s blood, but the court had rejected such requests.

"After this, Yulia Tymoshenko has repeatedly stated that she is ready to take a blood test for analysis by any independent doctor, including Germans and Canadians, during the examination on February 14," Vlasenko said.

He added that there were no problems in this context and that Tymoshenko was ready to provide blood for analysis by an independent doctor.
