You're reading: Yanukovych: Agreement on CIS free trade area does not fully match Ukraine’s aspirations

The agreement on the creation of a free trade area in the CIS is not being implemented effectively enough at present, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“The process of integration in the post-Soviet space worries us. We joined many documents that we prepared and that have already been adopted, for example, the agreement on the creation of a free trade area,” he said after Ukrainian-Belarusian talks on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, it [the agreement] is not working to an extent that would match our aspirations,” he added.
