Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and Head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime Volodymyr Rokytsky to temporarily fulfill the duties of the SBU chief. This is stipulated in a presidential decree posted on the president's official Web site on Thursday.

Earlier, Yanukovych dismissed Valeriy Khoroshkovsky as SBU chief and appointed him as Ukraine's finance minister.

Khoroshkovsky replaces Fedir Yaroshenko, who resigned on Jan. 18.
