Ukrainian President Viktor Yanuovych

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanuovych has approved an instruction on the National Anti-Corruption Committee. A respective decree signed by him on Thursday has been posted on the official Web site of the president.

The same decree declared ineffective some provisions of the president's decree of February 26, 2010 on the formation of the National Anti-Corruption Committee, which stipulated the main tasks of the committee.

According to approved instruction, the tasks of the anti-corruption committee include a systematic analysis of corruption in Ukraine and the development of measures to combat corruption.

The Ukrainian president is the head of the committee, and the justice minister is the secretary of the committee. The president approves the list of the committee members submitted by the executive secretary.

Lets hope this committee is independant of the state.. as in some sort of a private organization, that way corruption can really be fought, otherwise we'd be looking at just another shiny name on another building.

Freedom of speech. Freedom of press. Freedom of assembly are effective tools in any fight against corruption. Typical Yanukovych say one thing but do another. The leader of the Party of Corruption (Party of Regions)is Yanukovych. Yanukovych's desire to fight corruption is as genuine as his desire for a fair trial for Tymoshenko.
