Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has returned to work after undergoing routine knee surgery on Feb. 28, his press service reported on Wednesday.

"The president returned to work on March 1, 2011. On March 2, the Ukrainian president is scheduled to have a phone conversation with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and meet with the leaders of several executive government agencies," the report says.

The press service said that an arthroscopic surgical operation on the president’s right knee, which he injured while playing tennis, had been successfully conducted in Kyiv.

"The operation lasted less than an hour. The recovery process is taking place in accordance with the schedule planned by doctors, which is to last three weeks," the report says.
