You're reading: Yanukovych confirms membership of anti-corruption committee

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has approved the composition of the National Anti-Corruption Committee and scheduled its first meeting for April 22. According to a decree published on the presidential Web site, the Anti-Corruption Committee will consist of 30 members. The committee is headed by President Yanukovych. Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych was appointed the executive secretary of the committee.

The committee is made up of top officials from state administrations and services. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov and Economy Minister Vasyl Tsushko are among its members.

The committee is mainly formed from the heads of state departments and services. It includes the following members: Chairman of the Main Control and Revision Office Petro Andreyev, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Raisa Bohatyriova, Chief of the Main Intelligence Department at the Defense Ministry Viktor Hvozd, Head of the State Committee for Financial Monitoring Serhiy Hurzhiy, Head of the National Institute for Strategic Studies of Ukraine Andriy Yermolayev, Chairman of the State Customs Service Ihor Kaletnyk, Chairman of the State Border Guard Service Mykola Lytvyn, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration and the president’s representative in the courts Olena Lukash, Head of the Presidential Administration Serhiy Liovochkin, Head of the Main Department of Ukraine’s State Service Tymofiy Motrenko, Chairman of the State Tax Administration Oleksandr Papaika and Head of the State Security Service of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky.

Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn, Head of the Parliamentary Committee for Justice Serhiy Kivalov, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Oleksandr Medvedko, Head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Vasyl Onopenko, President of the Ukrainian Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs Anatoliy Kinakh and Chairman of the Higher Council of Justice Volodymyr Kolesnychenko will take part in the work of the Anti-Corruption Committee if they agree.

On the same grounds, the composition of the committee includes Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Legislative Support for Law Enforcement Activity Viktor Shvets, Head of the Accounting Chamber Valentyn Symonenko, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Valentyn Heyets, Director of the Institute of Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kopylenko, President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine and President of the Yaroslav the Wise National Law Academy of Ukraine Vasyl Tatsiy, Director of Koretsky Institute of State and Law Yuriy Shemshuchenko and President of the Technologies of Optimum Personality Development Oleksandr Khmara.
