Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has dismissed Health Minister Illia Yemets. A relevant decree was signed on Tuesday and posted on the president's Web site.

Yemets earlier submitted a resignation letter.

"He [Illia Yemets] is a wonderful specialist. He heads one of the most modern cardiosurgery centers. This was the reason to invite him to this high post of the minister. But he failed to properly organize the work of the ministry so that the ministry could start working effectively, and most importantly, so that the reforms that we outlined, which are very important, could start being realized," Yanukovych told reporters during his visit to Mykolaiv on Tuesday.

Yemets is a heart surgeon and has a Ph.D. in medicine. He has headed the Ukrainian Health Ministry since December 2010.

Yanukalin,,how dumb you are.....

You said...he is a wonderful specialist......

but...he did not carry out the reforms outlined...

He is the health expert,,,,,,,let him do his job.

Did he not steal from the Health Ministry and pass the money to you,,,so you had him fired!! This is probably the true reason.

Being an expert in his field does not mean he has the administrative skills to run a governmental ministry. Totally different level of expertise needed in the two vocations.

I know that.....

but I would also point out, someone who has a Ph. D. in medicine is far more intelligent than the current president who was a street fighter and convicted criminal, Yanukalin.

As a previous reader commented.....The president can't handle smart people....

What do you think???

What about Tabachnyk?

He should be sacked.

The president can't handle smart people, so Tabachnyk's job is secure.

Let us hope the president never needs a heart specialist!! Where was the money coming from to upgrade the system. Some oligarc. Not too likely.

Anytime any kind of corruption is exposed, a very high qualified minister who is trying to introduce a level of transparency within the Ukrainian Gov't is sacked! It is to be expected. This is actually an opportunity.

A dimwitted Donetsk appartchik is appointed to take his place. Lovely!
