You're reading: Yanukovych: National interest should be the same for all politicians

Bratislava, June 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that he will not allow opposition members to pose obstacles to the country's EU integration aspirations.

"If it is European integration, then how can it be so that the government is trying to speed up EU integration processes and make them better and more effective, whereas the opposition is preventing this movement? This won’t happen," he said at a Slovak-Ukrainian business forum in Bratislava on Friday.

Yanukovych said that the national interest and the principles of national pragmatism in international relations should be the same for all politicians.

He noted that the public policy would also be the same for all regions in the country.

Yanukovych said that such a policy would create equal conditions for all regions, giving them an opportunity and motivation for development.

"Denationalization and the decentralization of power in favor of the regions is also the policy that we will hold in the near future," he said.
