Yanukovych: Over 400 officials of current government stand trial

Over 400 officials of the current government are either facing trial or have already been prosecuted for wrongdoing, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said. "Today, more than 400 high-ranking officials of the current government are either under investigation, or have already undergone trial," he said in an interview with the Inter television channel aired on Wednesday.

Yanukovych noted that the current government is involved in a tough fight against corruption.

"I respect all people who are working for the benefit of the state. Unfortunately, they have been thinking more of themselves than of the state in recent years," the president said.
