You're reading: Yanukovych promises Ukraine will no longer have inviolable castes

Fight against corruption in all spheres of its manifestation is the priority direction for the power, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has written in his exclusive article "Twenty Years of Ukraine: Our Way is Just Beginning" published in the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia Ukraine weekly on Saturday.

"During all these years the corruption had been corroding the system of management and made it impossible for Ukrainians to breathe freely. The success of reforms is in overcoming corruption, which is the priority threat to the national security of Ukraine," the head of state wrote. He noted that corruption cannot be destroyed without ensuring a full equality of all citizens before the law.

According to the president, although not everybody will like it, Ukraine will no longer have the caste of inviolable persons, and any of the posts and finance will not protect criminals from punishment. "If someone believes that the matter concerns some separate campaign, he is profoundly mistaken. Any of the posts and finance, past or present, will not protect criminals. The basic principle of justice is being restored – the inevitability of punishment," stressed the president.
