Somebody’s playing these games, trying to weaken the government. But they will fail," he said in an interview with Ukrainian television channels that was recorded on Friday and aired on Tuesday.

According to the president, the national budget of Ukraine received an additional of UAH 14 billion in revenues over the first six months of the year.

"This is the result of government’s work," Yanukovych said.

When asked about the possible staff reshuffles in the government in the near future, the president answered: "This is a natural thing. There are those who have opportunities and are leaders on some issues in regions, [and] there are those who trail the pack. And it is quite natural that there will be such decisions, [and] and some persons will receive higher posts…"

Yanukovych also added that he learnt from reports in the media about possible transfer of his adviser Hanna Herman to a post in government.

"We have never had such a talk. I learnt this from reports in the mass media. There is a special service of rumors, and it works somewhere beyond the government," the president said.
