Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that a new democratic law on election of people's deputies of Ukraine should be adopted.

On the initiative of the Verkhovna Rada’s leadership and leaders of the parliamentary factions a working meeting with the president dedicated to the bill on parliamentary election was held on Tuesday, the presidential press service reported.

The meeting participants listened to the report by the head of the group preparing the law, Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych.

"The working group has done well, a serious document has been worked out. Today, the work comes to an end, and I accept the proposal by Verkhovna Rada Chairman that the further work on the bill should take place in parliament, and the agreed bill should be submitted by leaders of the parliamentary factions for consideration at the Verkhovna Rada," Yanukovych said.
