Yanukovych to attend session of United Nations General Assembly

Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych has left to visit the United States, the presidential press service reported on Tuesday. In New York, the head of state will attend the 65th session of the U.N. General Assembly.

On September 22, the president will deliver a speech at a high-level plenary session of the U.N. General Assembly dedicated to the progress in achieving the development goals outlined in the U.N. Millennium Declaration.

On September 23, Yanukovych will speak at the Atlantic Council of the United States and during a general debate of the 65th session of the General Assembly.

The program of his visit also envisages a number of bilateral meetings, in particular, with the president of the 65th session the U.N. General Assembly, Joseph Deiss, Austrian President Heinz Fischer, and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Yanukovych will also meet with the leaders of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations in the United States.
