You're reading: Yanukovych to discuss preparations for EU-Ukraine Summit, sign partnership development roadmap in Lithuania

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will make an official visit to Lithuania on Feb. 6 in order to participate in the sixth meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, the head of the presidential administration, Serhiy Liovochkin, has said.

His statement, the text of which is available on the presidential Web site, reads that Yanukovych will meet with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, and Seimas Speaker Vydas Gedvilas.

“During talks special importance will be attached to Ukraine’s European integration, particularly the preparations for the EU-Ukraine Summit and the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU,” reads the statement.

The agenda of the visit also includes the issues of intensification of trade and economic relations, cooperation in the spheres of transport and energy, deepening of cultural and social ties between Ukraine and Lithuania, according to Liovochkin.

The official also noted that the sides are planning to sign a roadmap for development of strategic partnership between Ukraine and Lithuania in 2013-2014.

Earlier, Chief Adviser to the Lithuanian President Daiva Ulbinaite said that during the visit much attention will be paid to the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit due in November in Lithuania.
