You're reading: Yeliseyev: Association Agreement should be signed before presidential elections

The head of Ukraine's Mission to the European Union, Ambassador Kostiantyn Yeliseyev, has said he believes that the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement should be signed "as soon as possible, before the presidential elections," which are scheduled for May 25.

“We want to sign the agreement as soon as possible. This is a key priority of the government’s program, which was approved yesterday. I believe that we need to sign the agreement before the presidential elections,” he told Interfax-Ukraine in Brussels.

He added that this question should be agreed with the EU.

“Today the EU should have no reason or excuse to reject our desire to sign the agreement in the near future,” the diplomat said.
