You're reading: At least 4 people die in floods in southern Russia

MOSCOW — Officials in Russia say that at least four people have been killed in flash floods in the country's Black Sea region. 

The Emergency Situations Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the people died overnight in the village of Novomikhailovsky. About 1,500 people have been evacuated from the area.

Investigators said they identified two of the four casualties as a 44-year-old woman and 46-year-old man. Police said that they were driving late Tuesday night when their car was washed away into a river and sank.
