Minsk - Belarus and Turkey have signed agreements on mutual visa-free travel and readmission.

The visa abolition pact allows Belarusians to stay in Turkey, and Turks to stay in Belarus, for a maximum of 30 days at a time and for a total of 90 days per year, said Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei.

“We hope that this will result in larger numbers of Turkish nationals visiting Belarus as tourists,” he said.

The agreements were signed on Friday during a visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to Belarus.

Davutoglu expressed confidence that the visa annulment agreement would stimulate exchanges of tourists between the two countries and described the agreement as a “historic” document.

The agreements are the result of “negotiations between the president of Belarus and the leadership of Turkey in 2010,” said Makei.
